OBJECTIVES OF THE BLUE RIDGE RUSSELL TERRIER CLUB

 

  1. To encourage and promote quality breeding, and the understanding and appreciation of the purebred Russell Terrier, and to do all possible to encourage such activities as will bring its natural qualities to perfection

  2. To urge members and breeders to accept the standard of the breed as approved by The American Kennel Club as the standard of excellence by which Russell Terriers shall be judged

  3. To guard against the commercial exploitation of the breed

  4. To encourage sportsmanlike competition at dog shows, obedience trials, earth dog tests, and other dog-related activities

  5. To do all in its power to protect and advance the interests of the breed by

    • conducting sanctioned matches, specialty dog shows, and other and other eligible dog-related activities that the Club chooses to undertake under the Rules and Regulations of the American Kennel Club

    • providing educational seminars and materials for the fancy as well as for the public

  6. To promote fellowship, cooperation, sportsmanship, and sharing of knowledge among the fancy

  7. To promote genetic health and appropriate health screening through education and awareness

  8. To assist members and others in keeping Russell Terriers out of shelters by networking to identifying foster and forever homes
